No. 50, Fall 2025
We celebrate our 50th issue by spotlighting some of our favorite articles and most popular lessons from issues past, plus a bunch of new articles and features. The “greatest hits” section runs the gamut from Hawaiian history to blues lessons, how to play in alternate tunings to changing your strings, and more. We also take a look through our archive of interviews and hand-pick pieces of wisdom from some of the great artists we’ve been fortunate enough to chat with over the years.
There’s plenty of new material, too! We have a profile by Blair Jackson on the German guitarist-turned-uker Jan Haasler, who made the switch to the little four-string during the pandemic and has since released several albums of ukulele music. Sandor Nagyszalanczy’s Great Ukes column details the fascinating tale of a vintage Hawaiian uke with a storied past. Plus, a review of the new Flight Nomad tenor uke, a look at the connection between the uke and Elvis’ burst into stardom, and more.
